As part of my skills-o-rama exercise I have decided to embed this YouTube video. This video is taken from the opening credits of Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'. I chose this video as I believe Tarantino is able to incorporate classic western themes such as the music used, dessert red colours and oversize block writing to tasteful tribute to the genre. This clip also has ties to my analysis of other film opening sequences (Casino Royal and LA confidential) and would like to highlight one of my favourites.
What an opening, like a 1950's western until the slaves appear on the screen, racism and particularly slavery is a subject that Hollywood has airbrushed out of films.
