THRILLER OPENING: FINAL CUT



Here is the final edit of my thriller opening, titled Rebecca. The opening follows a young girl as she is chased through a wooded area. My opening references techniques from other thriller openings studied as part of my research, also using thriller conventions such as isolation, shadows and a sound-bridge to introduce the thriller genre.

I examine my ideas, reasoning and influences with the costume, characters and locations in my piece and how they will be used to influence the audience. Here is a case study on the English crime thriller 'Essex Boys' here I reflected on how the director establishes the thriller genre in the film. I can now reflect on the techniques used to promote suspense and anticipation through devices such as foreshadowing and use them in my thriller film.
