Here is an updated and improved version of my summer task, in this presentation I comment on ideas such as cinematography, narrative, theme, genre and representation of two opening sequences to two different films. These films are James Bond; Casino Royal and LA Confidential. Each opening sequence has its different was of opening the film however, I go on to reflect on the contrasts and even similarities in each opening which is now included in this presentation.

FURTHER CAMERA ANGLES
Here is an example of the 180 degree rule. The rule states that a character or object must always be on one side of the screen which forms an imaginary line, the camera is then only allowed to be 180 degree from this line. If the camera or objects were to cross over or change sides of this imaginary line, they would therefore be breaking the rule. Breaking this rule could cause confusion to the audience and disrupt the fluidity of the sequence.

SKILLS-O-RAMA
As part of our skills-o-rama task we were to select and upload appropriate pictures. I decided to post pictures from the photographer Sebastiao Salgado, which were featured in the film of his work by the name of 'Salt of the Earth'. Salgardo has witnessed may key points in recent history including; famine and starvation during and as a result of the refugee crisis in Africa, the burning of oil wells and the restoration of the reserves in Kuwait, refugees in Ukraine and devastating genocide. The film, narrated by Salgardo, explains the photographs and Salgardo's experiences in these events first hand. He explains how he was deeply moved and troubled by what he had seen whilst documenting starvations in refugee camps across Africa, this would lead him to take a break before beginning to endeavour in finding the beauty of the world where before he had seen darkness. This film is incredibly moving and has a refreshing frankness about the suffering and injustice of the world. furthermore, going on to emphasis the beauty in the natural world. I picked these images as I feel they hold a strong message and have inspired me greatly, especially with the current refugee crisis. This film has also introduced me to a more creative and almost 'epic' use of cinematography which can be used to encourage emotions such as sympathy and amazement, both of which I experienced through the use of such images in the film.
SKILLS-O-RAMA
As part of my skills-o-rama exercise I have decided to embed this YouTube video. This video is taken from the opening credits of Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'. I chose this video as I believe Tarantino is able to incorporate classic western themes such as the music used, dessert red colours and oversize block writing to tasteful tribute to the genre. This clip also has ties to my analysis of other film opening sequences (Casino Royal and LA confidential) and would like to highlight one of my favourites.
